On June 28, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights closed the fourth edition of its Case Law Refresher Course. The closing ceremony was attended by the President of the National Council of the Judiciary, Miguel Ángel Calero Ángel, and the Director of the "Arturo Zeledón Castrillo" Judicial Training School, Dr. Luis Alonso Ramírez Menéndez.
The Program had 27 active participants, including judges, prosecutors from the Public Prosecution Service, officials from the Attorney General's Office and the Office for the Defense of Human Rights, along with other key officials for the protection of human rights in the country, who were able to deepen their knowledge of substantive aspects of the administration of justice and human rights, particularly those issues related to Articles 8 and 25 of the American Convention.
The program’s closing module was held in-person at the facilities of the “Dr. Arturo Zeledón Castrillo” Judicial Training School and was led by Claudia Martín, Co-Director of the Academy of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law and Resident Professor at American University Washington College of Law, and Celeste Salomé Novelli, lawyer of the Inter-American Court.
This Diploma course is part of the project "Strengthening the Protection of Human Rights and the Rule of Law through jurisprudential dialogue, optimization of institutional capacities and compliance with the judgments of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras” signed with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), through which it seeks to optimize capacities of judicial administration officers for the application of International Human Rights Law and the case law of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
