What are the provisional measures of the Court? Provisional measures are fundamental in respect for human rights in Latin America and the Caribbean. These are measures that the Inter-American Court dictates in cases of extreme gravity and urgency, and when it becomes necessary to avoid irreparable damage to people. On many occasions, these provisional measures can save the life of a person or of a group that are being threatened the guarantee of human rights.
