VENEZUELA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE VIOLATION OF THE RIGHTS TO PARTICIPATE IN GOVERNMENT AND JUDICIAL PROTECTION TO THE DETRIMENT OF HENRIQUE CAPRILES RADONSKI DURING THE 2013 ELECTIONS

 

San José, Costa Rica, December 2, 2024.- In the judgment, notified today, in the Case of Capriles v. Venezuela, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights declared the international responsibility of the State of Venezuela for the violation of the right to participate in government, freedom of expression, equal protection, judicial guarantees and judicial protection to the detriment of Henrique Capriles Radonski during the 2013 presidential elections.

  • Chile complied with the judgment in the Case of Teachers of Chañaral and other Municipalities

    San José, Costa Rica, July 10, 2025. In conformity with that set forth in the Order on Monitoring Compliance with Judgment issued by the Court on July 1, 2025, the Republic of Chile has complied with the execution of all the reparations ordered in the Judgment of November 10, 2021. Therefore, the Inter-American Court decided to conclude and archive the case. For more information, the Judgment of November 10, 2021, can be accessed here and the Order of July 1, 2025, which declares the closing of the case, can be accessed here.

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights notified today Advisory Opinion 32 of 2025 on the Climate Emergency and Human Rights, adopted on May 29, 2025, in response to the request submitted by the Republic of Chile and the Republic of Colombia in January 2023.

    San José, Costa Rica, June 5, 2025. The Inter-American Court of Human Rights held its 176th regular session from May 19 to 30, 2025, in a hybrid form. During the session, it held hearings and deliberations, and discussed urgent matters. The first week took place with the presence of the judges in Guatemala City, Guatemala, with the activities described previously here, while the second week was conducted virtually.

  • The Inter-American Court of Human Rights has held a Regular Session in Guatemala

    San José, Costa Rica, May 30, 2025. From May 19 to 23, 2025, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights held the first week of work corresponding to its 176th regular session in Guatemala City. This was possible thanks to an invitation from the Government of the Republic of Guatemala, with the support of the Presidential Commission for Peace and Human Rights (COPADEH), as the local organizing body.

    San José, Costa Rica, May 28, 2025 - The Inter-American Court of Human Rights, with the support of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), has made available on its website the translation of 14 judgments into English and 2 judgments into Portuguese, issued by the Court in 2022 and 2023. The documents were translated between January and December 2024.
