Inter-American Court concludes the Fourth Edition of its Case Law Refresher Course in Guatemala

On July 7, the Inter-American Court closed the fourth edition of the Refresher Course on the Inter-American Court of Human Rights’ Case Law in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The closing ceremony was attended by Judge Dina Josefina Ochoa Escribá, President of the Constitutional Court of Guatemala.

More than 80 people actively participated in the course, including judges, lawyers from the Constitutional Court, prosecutors from the Public Prosecution Service, officials from the Institute for Victims, and other key officials for the protection of human rights in the country, who deepened their knowledge of substantive aspects of the administration of justice and human rights, particularly those issues related to Articles 8 and 25 of the American Convention.

The closing module was held in-person at the courtroom of the Constitutional Court of Guatemala and was led by Fernanda López Puleio, Official Public Defender of the Public Defender’s Office of the Argentina, Patricia Tarre Moser, Director of Human Rights Studies, and Jorge Errandonea, lawyer of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

This Diploma course is part of the project "Strengthening the Protection of Human Rights and the Rule of Law through jurisprudential dialogue, optimization of institutional capacities and compliance with the Judgments of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras ”, signed with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), through which it seeks to optimize the capacities of judicial administration officers for the application of International Human Rights Law and the case law of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
