San José, Costa Rica, April 15, 2021.-Today, the Judge of the Inter-American Court, Ricardo Pérez Manrique, closed – virtually – the second edition in Honduras of the training course on “Impunity and gross human rights violations” held from April 12 to 15 using the videoconferencing platform of the “Francisco Salomón Jiménez Castro” Judicial Academy of Honduras. Over 70 officials employed in the administration of justice participated in the activity, including judges, prosecutors from the Public Prosecution Service, agents of the Attorney General’s Office, and representatives of the National Human Rights Commission. The course was imparted by professor Elizabeth Salmón Gárate, who addressed issues relating to gross human rights violations, the international responsibility of the State, impunity, and the right to reparation of victims in the Case Law of the Inter-American Court.
This refresher and training program forms part of the activities of the project “Strengthening the protection of human rights and the rule of law through jurisprudential dialogue, optimization of capacities, and compliance with the Judgments of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras” that the Inter-American Court is executing with the support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE), in collaboration with the “Francisco Salomón Jiménez Castro” Judicial Academy of Honduras.
