Update of the Case Law of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights No. 17: Interaction between International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law

 

San José, Costa Rica, March 31, 2021.-The Inter-American Court of Human Rights (I/A Court H.R.) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) published the updated version of Case Law Bulletin of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights No. 17: Interaction between International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law (see Bulletinhere).

This edition, updated to 2020, incorporates the I/A Court H.R.’s most recent case law on the relationship between human rights and international humanitarian law, the complementary nature of which has been emphasized in the Court’s Case Law of San José.

The purpose of the series of Case Law Bulletins of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights is to publicize the most important features of the Court’s case law on different issues of regional interest and relevance. This edition is the result of collaboration between the I/A Court H.R.and the ICRC Regional Delegation for Mexico and Central America, and was produced through the generous support of the ICRC and the compilation work carried out by Elizabeth Salmón Gárate, PhD.
